Honeywell to provide energy efficiency services in Pennsylvania
Honeywell has agreed to provide energy efficiency services to the Montgomery County correctional facility in Eagleville in the US state of Pennsylvania, to upgrade its infrastructure, and save almost $2.5m in estimated utility and operating costs.
Honeywell said the energy conservation and building modernization program, which is backed by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will enable the 600-bed correctional facility to reduce water and energy consumption, and enhance safety and security for staff and inmates.
Montgomery County will use Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant to finance the building energy efficiency improvements.
Under the ten year performance contract, Honeywell will install a new water management system, Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator at the facility.
The system will enable prison personnel to more effectively control water use, and will also install high-efficiency water fixtures across the facility.
The improvements are expected to decrease annual water use by 20 million gallons, nearly 30%of the facility's consumption.
The company will upgrade controls in the kitchen to optimize vent hood operation and cut electricity use, and is expected to complete the upgrades in the first half of 2011.
The building improvements are expected to decrease carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 380 metric tons each year.
