Polyair Reports Fiscal 2008 Results

Polyair Inter Pack Inc. (Polyair) has reported sales of $114.2 million for the fiscal year-end 2008, compared with the sales of $119.6 million in the previous year-end. It has also reported a net loss of $11.9 million, or $1.7 loss per share, for the fiscal year-end 2008, compared with the net income of $1.4 million, or $0.20 per share, in the previous year-end.

Centex Updates On Centex Energy Advantage Homes In Raleigh-Durham

Centex Corporation (Centex) said that the construction on Centex Energy Advantage homes across the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, is in progress. It is anticipated that these homes will reduce around 30 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the first year of occupancy. According to National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Centex Energy Advantage homes are up to 22% more energy efficient than other new homes built.

Johnson Controls Signs Energy Savings Performance Contract With Lee College

Johnson Controls, Inc. (Johnson Controls) has signed an energy savings performance contract from Lee College, Texas under Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI). Under the contract, Johnson Controls will retrofit the 35 of Lee College's facilities. Upon completion, total electric consumption will be reduced by around 35%, and energy and water costs will be reduced by 32%.

Mellanox Provides Energy-Efficient End-To-End 40Gb/s InfiniBand Technology To New Clusters At Forschungszentrum Julich, Germany

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. (Mellanox) has provided its ConnectX 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters, 40Gb/s InfiniBand switches and cables to new compute clusters built at Forschungszentrum Julich in North Rhine-Westphali, Germany. These end-to-end 40Gb/s InfiniBand technology will provide the high-performance, low-latency interconnect foundation for the new compute clusters. These clusters will support advanced research in areas such as health, information, environment, and energy.

New Jersey’s BPU And Clean Energy Program Lead EPA’s Energy Efficiency Campaign

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and New Jersey's Clean Energy Program are leading the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) campaign, Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR. BPU and the program are supporting this campaign to save energy, save money, and help protect the environment and fight against global warming. BPU has started this campaign in New Jersey on September 28, 2008 at the Morristown Festival on the Green, sponsored by Community Earth and the EPA.

Power Efficiency Corporation (Power Efficiency) has appointed Alan Taylor as vice president (VP) of business development of the company. Taylor has over 30 years of experience in the elevator and escalator industry. Prior to this, he served as an associate at HKA Elevator Consulting, Inc. and principal at Barker Mohandas LLC. Prior to these two firms, he served in many positions in the elevator/escalator industry with ThyssenKrupp Elevator (TKE) and Dover Elevator.

UES’ Lighting Program To Reduce CFL Costs By 50% To Save Energy

UniSource Energy Services, Inc. (UES), a subsidiary of UniSource Energy Corporation, said that its new ENERGY STAR Lighting Program will provide discounts on compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs of around 50% on regular retail prices. The objective of this program is to promote the use of energy-efficient CFL bulbs as they consume around 75% less energy and can last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs.

United States Steel Vice President To Retire

United States Steel Corporation (United States Steel), a US based steel producer, said that Joseph Alvarado, vice president-tubular operations and president of U.S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc, will retire from the company, on February 28, 2009. Alvarado has spent his whole career in steelmaking, starting with his first job in Inland Steel's finance department after finishing his master's degree in 1976.

Eaton Announces Management Changes

Eaton Corporation (Eaton) has appointed Thomas S. Gross as vice chairman (VC) and chief operating officer (COO) for the electrical sector and Craig Arnold as VC and COO for the industrial sector. The company has also appointed Richard H. Fearon as VC and chief financial and planning officer for Eaton. Gross will succeed Randy W. Carson, chief executive officer (CEO) of Electrical Group, who will retire at the end of April 2009.
