Sofame Reports Fiscal 2008 Results

Sofame Technologies Inc. (Sofame) has reported sales of CAD1.7 million for the fiscal 2008, compared with the sales of CAD2.3 million in the previous year-end. It has also reported a net loss of CAD2.3 million, or CAD0.0202 loss per share, for the fiscal 2008, compared with the net loss of CAD1.2 million, or CAD0.0154 loss per share, in the previous year-end.

Eaton Appoints Board Member

Eaton Corporation (Eaton) has appointed Arthur E. Johnson to the board of directors of the company. Currently Johnson is senior vice president, corporate strategic development, at Lockheed Martin Corporation (Lockheed ). Earlier to Lockheed in 1996, Johnson was group vice president for Loral Corporation’s Federal Systems Group and served in roles of increasing responsibility at IBM Corporation.

Mellanox Reports 2008 Results

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. (Mellanox) has reported revenues of $107.7 million for the year 2008, compared with the revenues of $84.1 million in the previous year-end. It has also reported a net income of $22.4 million, or $0.68 per diluted share, for the year 2008, compared with the net income of $35.6 million, or $1.18 per diluted share, in the previous year-end.

ISMI Opens New ESH Technology Center In Austin, Texas

International SEMATECH Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI) has opened a new Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) technology center in Austin, Texas. The center will provide green technology solutions that lead to reduced energy consumption, lower costs, and greater productivity in semiconductor manufacturing. The new ESH technology center will promote energy and resource conservation through technical evaluations and demonstrations.

Cypress Envirosystems' WPT Increases Energy Efficiency Of Buildings For Federal Stimulus Program

Cypress Envirosystems Corporation (Cypress Envirosystems), a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (Cypress) said that the low cost and fast installation of its Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat (WPT) increases the energy efficiency of buildings. This improvement is targeted by the planned federal stimulus program. The WPT can seamlessly integrate with modern building automation systems from virtually all major vendors via BACnet/IP.

Steinway & Sons Installs Solar Cooling System

Steinway & Sons is installing $875,000 solar-powered rooftop system to provide cool air to dehumidify the factory and protect the precision pianos lying inside. The installation is partly funded by a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and also through federal tax credits. The system, which will be completed in late spring, pumps solar-heated water into an 80-ton double-effect absorption chiller, which serves as a heat exchanger.

Sun Microsystems Completes Broomfield Datacenter

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Sun Microsystems) has completed new Broomfield, Colorado datacenter. The Broomfield facility has new energy-efficient systems and expertise, including efficient datacenter design and power and cooling technologies. Through this project, the company anticipates to save more than $1 million in electricity costs and 11,000 metric tons of CO2 per year in Broomfield.

Emerson Climate Introduces Big Blue Commercial Touch Screen And Blue Commercial Thermostats

Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. (Emerson Climate), a unit of Emerson Electric Co., has introduced Big Blue Commercial touch screen and Blue Commercial thermostats. The Emerson Big Blue Commercial thermostat features a 12-square-inch touch screen display, while the Emerson Blue Commercial thermostat features a six–square-inch display. The thermostat has limited temperature range for energy savings, backlit displays, Cool Savings features to save energy during peak A/C demand periods.

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, Inc. (OSRAM Opto) has introduced a new blue laser diode. An optimized TO38 package makes the blue laser diode the smallest in its class. Thus the tiny projectors can be integrated into mobile devices like cell phones and digital cameras. Lasers are the first choice as light sources for these applications.
